On Monday, Today co-host Savannah Guthrie shared her latest plea for the return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
In a social media post captioned “Bring her home,” Savannah Guthrie spoke directly to her mother’s abductors, telling them that their family is in agony and experiencing an unending nightmare since she went missing nearly six months ago.
Acknowledging that the extended timeline of her mother’s disappearance likely means she’s no longer alive, Savannah Guthrie asked for the abductors to “do the right thing” and let her and her family know where her remains are located.
“Make the right choice,” Savannah Guthrie said. “Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end.”
She ended the video in a placative tone, telling the abductors that for whatever “we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home.” She concluded with a plea for them to make the right choice.
Savannah Guthrie and Today co-host Craig Melvin were not on air for Monday morning’s edition of Today, with Hallie Jackson and Sheinelle Jones filling in for the duo.
In June, Savannah Guthrie made an on-air appeal during the second hour of Today after reports revealed that one of the alleged ransom notes sent days after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in February claimed that she had died.
Surrounded by her Today colleagues, Savannah Guthrie reiterated the pain and agony her family is going through in this ordeal. She also pointed out that she had no comment on the story of the ransom note and was not involved in the coverage of her mother’s disappearance.
At that time, Melvin shared the FBI’s tip line (1-800-CALL-FBI), saying that if anyone has information that could help investigators and the family members “find a modicum of peace,” they should call that number.
