Fox News is introducing a new weekend morning and evening lineup that sees Howard Kurtz losing his Sunday morning show and the Big Weekend Show expanding to three hours.
After a 12-year run, Fox News is sunsetting its media-focused show MediaBuzz, with its longtime host Kurtz transitioning to a political media analyst role. He will continue to host his podcast and write for Fox News Digital.
“For more than a decade, Howie Kurtz has served as the lead authority for media coverage in cable news, and we look forward to continuing his smart analysis across our programming,” said Jay Wallace, Fox News Media president & executive editor.
In its place, debuting on Sunday, Sept. 21, will be The Sunday Briefing, anchored by senior White House correspondents Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich. The duo will host the weekly show on a rotational basis from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET.
They will tackle all facets of the White House beat as well as the key issues impacting the current Trump administration.
Beginning Saturday, Sept. 20, The Big Weekend Show will start airing at 5 p.m., running until 8 p.m., including on Sundays. Johnny Joey Jones and Tomi Lahren have been named as two of the four co-hosts of the ensemble program, joined by two rotating panelists each week, as they delve into topics ranging from politics to pop culture.
Other changes to Fox News’ weekend schedule include Outnumbered’s Kayleigh McEnany hosting her own program Saturday in America from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. McEnany, who will remain on the weekday ensemble show, will provide a comprehensive look at the headlines dominating the news cycle with her new show.
Finally, Griff Jenkins joins Fox & Friends Weekend as the third co-host, seated alongside Rachel Campos-Duffy and Charlie Hurt. Jenkins, who has been with the network since 2003, was most recently its Washington-based national correspondent and a co-anchor of Fox News Live.
The tweaks are just the latest changes for Fox News’ weekend schedule within the past year. In January, the network shifted Jon Scott’s The Fox Report from 6 p.m. to the 3 to 5 p.m. slot. The Big Weekend Show also inherited Scott’s former hour, becoming a two-hour program.
In February, Lara Trump joined Fox News’ Saturday night lineup at 9 p.m. while One Nation with Brian Kilmeade moved to Sundays, airing at 10 p.m.
Reflecting on the newly announced lineup, Wallace said, “This new dynamic roster underscores our continued commitment to delivering incomparable coverage, reinforcing Fox News Media as the leader in both news and opinion content.”
