Top of the Ticker: Fox News will air a tribute to Charlie Kirk Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, with an encore presentation Sunday at 7 p.m. Charlie Kirk: An American Original will be hosted by primetime host Jesse Watters. According to the network, the special will look at the life and legacy of the Turning Point USA founder following his tragic assassination at Utah Valley University. Watters will reflect on Kirk’s extraordinary impact as a conservative thought leader, gifted communicator, and a monumental force for the MAGA movement.
Hosts announced: NBC News revealed the hosts for its upcoming first-of-a-kind live event, Dateline Live. Michael McKean, Annette O’Toole, and Holly Robinson Peete will be on hand in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 28, to guide true crime fans through the one-day event. Lester Holt, Blayne Alexander, Andrea Canning, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison, and Dennis Murphy will be part of the experience, which will feature on-stage panels, audience question-and-answer sessions, and a VIP reception with the team. McKean teased the upcoming event during an interview session with the Spinal Tap II cast.
New podcasts: Meanwhile, NBC News’ true crime franchise is set to debut a new podcast that looks at the shocking murder of graduate student Denita Smith. Dateline’s Deadline Engagement is a six-part series reported by Mankiewicz on a love triangle gone wrong. The first two episodes will be available for download and streaming across major podcast platforms starting Tuesday, Sept. 16, followed by new episodes Tuesdays and Thursdays during the following two weeks.

Also debuting Sept. 16 is a new limited series true crime podcast from ABC Audio and 20/20. Vanished: What Happened to Vanessa examines the murder of U.S. Army soldier Vanessa Guillén in 2020. Hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quiñones, the limited series will feature exclusive, never-before-heard interview audio from ABC News and 20/20’s original reporting, as well as new updates from Guillén’s family.
