TV and movie star Alyson Hannigan has started making crafting videos, and they are absolutely delightful to watch! Her first video came across my Instagram feed a few weeks ago (the algorithm clearly knows how much I love my crafts), and her account was an instant follow from me.

The most surprising thing about the American Pie and How I Met Your Mother star’s videos is that they are very budget-friendly and easy for beginners to follow – without a single digital craft machine in sight.

It’s rare to find craft videos that don’t over-promote some of the best Cricut machines (though they are amazing), especially when videos are made by TV personalities. So it’s refreshing that Alyson’s crafts seem to rely solely on her creativity and a hot glue gun to put together.

Personally, I can’t remember life before I owned one of the best 3D printers, or one of the best laser cutters and engravers, for that matter. When it comes to crafting, it’s very easy to get inspired by things you see online and try to replicate them.

I think in the digital crafting world, it can be tricky to create something completely original, and Alyson’s video on creating a “tooth box” was the perfect example of a crafty and whimsical project that I can’t wait to see more of.

In Alyson’s video above, she can be seen sitting in front of a beautiful rainbow yarn wall, and tells us of her ambition to share her passion for crafting with her followers, “I just thought we could try it together”, she states.

Five crafting videos later, and Alyson has clearly found her feet. In her latest Valentine-themed video below, she makes a stunning set of giant letter initials covered with conversation hearts (the American version of love hearts, I’m assuming?), and is sitting in front of an artificial grass backdrop with flower hearts in the background and wearing a cute love heart shirt too.
