Jenna Ortega-led comedy series Wednesday held on to the top position for the second week in a row in Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart.
For the week of Aug. 11, Netflix’s Wednesday accumulated 2.136 billion viewing minutes, cementing its No. 1 position, with exactly one-half of its audience coming from the adults 18-through-49 demographic.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, three titles had more than 1 billion viewing minutes for the week of Aug. 11, and Netflix occupied five spots on the chart, with one of those positions having shared distribution rights.
The season-three edition of Canadian drama Sullivan’s Crossing was enough to lift it from sixth during the week of Aug. 4 to second place on the streaming chart. The Netflix-acquired title finished with 1.586 billion minutes viewed, with the women 50-plus demo contributing 43% of the series’ watch time.
KPop Demon Hunters continues to defy the trend as it climbed back to the No. 3 position, finishing with 1.018 billion viewing minutes. The Netflix movie has managed to remain a consistent performer on the chart, receiving a boost from hit single “Golden,” which is featured in the movie’s soundtrack. In addition, during the just-concluded week, KPop Demon Hunters recorded its most-watched day so far Aug. 16, nearly two months after its June debut.
Elsewhere, Disney+’s Bluey moved one spot up to fourth place with 869 million viewing minutes. It was followed by Netflix- and Hulu-shared title Grey’s Anatomy, which jumped four places to No. 5, with 783 million minutes viewed.
The lower half of the chart began with Paramount+’s SpongeBob SquarePants, moving from eighth to sixth place, with 771 million minutes viewed. This was followed by Netflix’s The Hunting Wives, which dropped four spots to No. 7 with 761 million viewing minutes during the week of Aug. 11.
Tevived animated sitcom King of the Hill on Hulu fell to eighth place from second with 714 million minutes viewed. Another animated sitcom, Family Guy, also on Hulu, landed in ninth with 660 million viewing minutes.
Taking the final position on the chart was HBO Max’s The Big Bang Theory, which finished with 648 million minutes viewed.
