Top of the Ticker: Regular CNN viewers were greeted with pixelated images during the noon ET hour on Monday as the network suffered a technical issue that affected audio and video.
The technical issues occurred during a panel discussion on Inside Politics with Dana Bash, forcing the network to go temporarily off air. The interruption lasted more than 30 minutes, which CNN acknowledged in a social media post.
Once the feed was restored, Bash spoke of the hiccup at 12:51 p.m. ET, saying, “Welcome back and we are back. There was a technical issue across Warner Bros. Discovery’s channels that resulted in losing our signal. We’re very sorry for the interruption.”
According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, during the disruption “viewers may have experienced different impacts” depending on which distribution platforms they used. The issue also affected CNN’s sister networks, including HBO.

Awards: Former 60 Minutes correspondents Scott Pelley and Cecilia Vega were announced as finalists for the 2026 Gerald Loeb Awards, which recognize reporting and storytelling that advances public understanding of business, finance, and the economy. Pelley is a finalist for the Video News Award for his 60 Minutes piece on The Price of Life, which aired in December 2025, while Vega was a finalist for her piece on The Family Farm, which aired in November 2025. Also announced as a finalist is NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas, who was named a finalist for the broadcast’s The Coast of Denial series, one of Llamas’ first franchises since taking over as Nightly News’ anchor. Gerald Loeb winners will be announced live at the Loeb Awards Banquet and Celebration on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Capitale in New York City.
Broadcast special: Continued interest in the Lindsay Clancy trial has resulted in The CW tapping into its corporate sibling, NewsNation, for a new one-hour special on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 9 p.m. ET. NewsNation Presents: The Lindsay Clancy Trial will be hosted by NewsNation’s senior national correspondent Brian Entin, with the documentary taking viewers inside the recent trial of Clancy and examining the evidence, testimony, and questions surrounding her mental state at the time of the killings of her three young children.
On-air tribute: Noticias Telemundo anchor Julio Vaqueiro will host a primetime special tribute to the late Mexican musical icon Juan Gabriel on Friday at 10 p.m. ET. Airing live on Telemundo and streaming on Noticias Telemundo Ahora, Juan Gabriel, Amor Eterno will feature in-depth interviews with family and friends as they reflect on Gabriel’s life and his prolific 45-year musical career, encompassing more than 1,500 songs released across more than 40 albums. He also toured for decades before his death ten years ago.
Revolving Door: Fox News announced that Emily Compagno is moving from Outnumbered to its No. 1 show, The Five, where she will be a co-host. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, Compagno will be seated alongside Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, and Jesse Watters, as well as the rotating liberal seat of Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov. The network said it will use a rotating pool of Fox News personalities on Compagno’s former noon ET show until it names a permanent co-host.
CNN announced that Krishna Andavolu has been named explainers correspondent. Andavolu, who joined CNN from VICE in 2025, will continue to host the streaming series, CNN Explainers.
Meanwhile, the network also announced that John Simons was named senior director, business and media coverage. Simons was previously a partner at the Brunswick Group and, prior to that, executive editor responsible for national, business, and technology news at TIME. In this new role, Simmons will report to Marie Beaudette, vice president, business and media for CNN.
Adele Hixon-Day is joining C-SPAN as its inaugural chief development officer. In this senior leadership role, Hixon-Day will focus on C-SPAN’s philanthropic strategy, building relationships with foundations, major donors, and individual supporters. An executive with more than 15 years of fundraising experience, Hixon-Day has previously worked at the Smithsonian Institution as chief advancement officer and as vice president of development at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
